About the program

For an organization to build a sustainable business, their supply chains need to be sustainable. Only when the line managers in the supply chain take decisions based on sustainability considerations in addition to the traditional drivers of cost, capacity, and service levels, will the sustainability initiatives of companies truly take off.

This course will provide the core set of concepts that supply chain executives need, as well as experiential understanding as to what it means to build and manage a sustainable business. Equipped with this learning they would be able to contribute significantly to building a sustainable business at their respective companies.

A sustainable supply chain course is very timely, especially considering the growing global emphasis on sustainability and responsible business practice. It prepares individuals and organizations to address environmental and social challenges, comply with regulations, meet consumer expectations, and create long-term value.

Objectives

The programme will teach a set of foundational concepts around sustainable supply chains across all supply chain functions and cover the interdisciplinary aspects in managing supply chains. Building an aligned supply chain – where the parts of the whole are in sync with the company strategy – involves understanding the nuances of the various interactions between supply chain functions and the impact of upstream and downstream decisions on these functions. When sustainability is added to the mix, these decisions to achieve alignment become that much more complex and demanding. The experiential learning component will attempt to highlight these and provide guidance on how participants can apply the learnings within the context of their jobs.

The programme will focus on contemporary topics in Sustainable Supply Chain Management. It will develop necessary knowledge & understanding of the processes and techniques used in building a sustainable supply chain, so that participants can challenge, innovate, and solve problems.

The Key Learning Objectives of the Programme are:

  • Develop an understanding of core sustainable supply chain concepts and applications – across sourcing, manufacturing, distribution functions. Understand the importance of circular supply chains and supply chain transparency and traceability.
  • Apply contemporary tools and techniques to improve the performance of Supply Chains, while also improving sustainability metrics by experiencing managing a simulated business to achieve sustainability.
